Although the holiday season is coming to an end, the 2025 Holiday Checkstop Program will continue throughout December into New Year’s Eve.
Between December 21-28, 2025:
- 272 vehicles were stopped
- 10 drivers were found to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, including:
- 8 drivers who registered a WARN
- 2 Immediate Roadside Prohibition (ASD Fail)
A friendly reminder that every driver stopped during a Checkstop will be required to provide a breath sample using an Approved Screening Device and drug-screening equipment will be used to detect signs of cannabis impairment. The Winnipeg Police Service wants everyone to have a safe and enjoyable holiday season.
If you plan to drink or consume cannabis, DON’T DRIVE.
Choose a safe alternative including:
- Designated driver
- Taxi, Uber, or Lyft
- Winnipeg Transit
- Operation Red Nose
The 2025 Festive Season Checkstop Program is supported by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries.
