On November 20, 2025, at 6:45 p.m., Property Crime Unit members investigating recent package thefts in the Westwood neighbourhood, arrested a 56-year-old man in the 600 block of Cavalier Drive.

Shortly after 1:00 a.m. on November 18, a man driving a 2024 Ford F150 Supercrew attended a residence in the 1-99 block of Columbus Crescent and stole a package off the front porch. Minutes later, the same man attended a residence in the 3200 block of Assiniboine Avenue and stole a package from the front porch. Both incidents were captured on the homeowners’ security cameras and reported to police.

The Property Crime Unit assumed the investigations and quickly linked the 56-year-old man as a suspect.

On November 20, shortly before 7:00 p.m., investigators located the F150 parked in the 600 block of Cavalier Drive and arrested the man without incident. Investigators recovered a large quantity of packages and property believed to be stolen, within the truck. Some of the property has been returned to their rightful owners.

The man faces two charges of Theft Under $5,000 and was released on an Appearance Notice to attend court at a later date.

Citizens are encouraged to report property theft-related incidents online so that they may be thoroughly investigated by police. Timely reporting of these incidents can not only link similar incidents to offenders, but increases the chance of recovering and returning stolen property to their rightful owners. Security camera footage, along with information shared amongst the community, can facilitate investigators in identifying suspects and neighbourhood trends.

Property thefts valued under $25,000 can be reported to police through Coplogic online reporting.
