On October 26, 2025, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 2100 block of McPhillips Street for the report of commercial robbery that had just occurred at a fast-food restaurant. Arriving North District officers learned that the suspects, all believed to be youths, had fled before their arrival. A cash register had been stolen and a chair was thrown at an employee during the robbery. No injuries were reported. Officers also linked the group of youths to other reported local robberies in the area on the same evening.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and learned the following:

The following incidents occurred in the early evening of October 26, 2025.

- Several youth suspects attended a fast food restaurant 2000 block of McPhillips Street, entered the employee area and stole the empty cash register and fled on foot.

- Several youth suspects attended a retail store in the 800 block of Leila Avenue, threw merchandise about the store, stole a fire extinguisher, and discharged it in the parking lot.

- Several youth suspects attended a fast food restaurant in the 2300 block of McPhillips Street with their faces concealed and attempted to tamper with the cash register. They fled empty-handed.

- Several youths attended a retail store in the 900 block of Leila Avenue with their faces concealed, and began throwing store furnishings about the store causing $50 in damage.

- Several youths attended a fast food restaurant in the 2100 block of McPhillips Street with their faces concealed, assaulted an employee, threw furnishings about the restaurant, and stole the cash register.

- Several youths attended a grocery store in the 1300 block of McPhillips Street with part of their faces concealed, and stole $250 of merchandise. When store security intervened, pavement stones were thrown at the victim, but no injury was reported.

Shortly after 8:00 p.m., officers located seven youths near the intersection of Inkster Boulevard and McPhillips Street, and linked them to all the above-mentioned incidents.

The youths, ranging from 12 to 15 years of age (four boys, three girls), face numerous charges, including Robbery, Mischief Under $5,000, Theft Under $5,000, Disguise with Intent, and multiple breaches of conditions.

Six of the seven youths were detained in custody and one was released on an Undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
