In September 2025, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Drug Enforcement Unit became aware of fentanyl trafficking within the West Broadway neighbourhood.

On September 24, 2025, as a result of the investigation, a man and a woman were arrested. A search of the man revealed close to 38 grams of fentanyl with an estimated street value of $15,080. The fentanyl was found to be moulded into colourful shapes such as dinosaurs and the moulds seen in the images.

A search warrant was executed on suite of an apartment complex in the 1-99 block of Furby Street.

The following items were seized during this search warrant:

  • 134 grams of fentanyl with an estimated street value of $53,600
  • Five grams of unprocessed fentanyl with an estimated street value of $200,000
  • Mixing/Cutting agent
  • Taser with six cartridges
  • Pepper Spray
  • $235 in Canadian currency
  • Rubber moulds
  • Scales
  • Drug packaging and other drug paraphernalia

Five grams of unprocessed fentanyl has the potential to create 5,000 doses of street level fentanyl once a mixing/cutting agent is added. As little as two micrograms of fentanyl or the equivalent of two grains of salt is considered a lethal dose.

A 39-year old man and a 25-year-old woman are facing multiple drug trafficking, weapons, and firearms-related offences.

Both were both released on Undertakings.

The Winnipeg Police Service cannot stress enough that if you come across similar items do not touch them and report to the police non-emergency line 204-986-6222. Call 911 if you are in medical crisis.

To reduce the risk of an opioid overdose, never use drugs alone and always carry naloxone.
