As previously released, on September 29, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., East District General Patrol officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian near the intersection of St. Anne’s Road and Granby Bay.
Upon arrival, officers observed an 18-year-old female victim with serious non life-threatening bodily injuries, being medically treated by emergency personnel.
The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition, later upgraded to stable.
The Traffic Division assumed the investigation and have learned that the victim was crossing the street when she was struck by a vehicle that was travelling northbound on St. Anne’s Road. The vehicle subsequently fled the area. The victim was located on the roadway a short time later by a passing motorist who contacted emergency services.

The Traffic Division continued to investigate the motor vehicle collision that occurred on September 29, 2024, at the intersection on St. Anne’s Road and Granby Bay.
The investigation revealed that two suspects had fraudulently reported the collission to Manitoba Public Insurance.
A 47-year-old male and a 45-year-old female, both from Winnipeg are facing the following charges:
- Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident Knowing That or Reckless as to Whether They Were Involved in an Accident Causing Bodily Harm
- Fraud Over $5,000
The male was also issued Provincial Offence Notices under the Highway Traffic Act for Drive Carelessly and As a driver of a vehicle involved in an accident, fail to give required information to a person injured in the accident.
Both were released on Appearance Notices as mandated by the Criminal Code.
