On September 1, 2024 at approximately 11:15 a.m., General Patrol officers from the East District with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team responded to a gun call at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Aubert Street in St. Boniface.
A male in his 30s was located on a balcony with injuries as a result of being shot. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and remains in serious but stable condition.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and is seeking the public’s assistance.

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the shooting of a 30-year-old male victim in the 100 block of Aubert Street on September 1, 2024.
Investigators identified two individuals believed to be involved in the incident.
On September 11, Major Crimes investigators arrested a 17-year-old male from Winnipeg in the 500 block of Notre Dame Avenue. He faces charges of Aggravated Assault, Disguise with Intent, and multiple Firearms-related offences. He was detained in custody.
Investigators also identified a second adult male suspect believed to be involved in the incident. Investigators applied for and were granted a warrant for the arrest of 18-year-old Jordan Jay Brandon BEARDY of Winnipeg for Aggravated Assault.
On October 12, 2024, officers came into contact with BEARDY during an unrelated incident and placed him under arrest on the strength of the warrant. BEARDY has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Disguise with Intent, and Firearms-related offences. He was detained in custody.
Through their investigation, investigators learned that the victims and the suspect became involved in a verbal argument when the parties were standing on the respective balconey's of their short-term rental units. The argument escalated with the suspects attending outside of the building with faces concealed, and discharging a firearm at the victim who was still standing on his balcony. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries; however, was conveyed to and stabilized in hospital.
The suspects and the victim were previously unknown to one another.
