In August 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) was notified by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) after intercepting an international package destined for a Winnipeg address. The package contained a sex doll anatomically designed to appear to look like a pre-pubescent child.

As a result, a search warrant was executed at a residence of an adult male in the Silver Heights area on August 21, 2024. Numerous items, including various electronic devices were seized. With the assistance of the Technological Crimes Section, a forensic analysis of these devices is pending.

The male was arrested in relation to child sexual abuse imagery charges.
