On February 4, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service arrested an adult male regarding two robbery-related incidents.
At approximately 3:45 p.m., police were contacted regarding the attempted robbery of a delivery driver at a restaurant in the 1600 block of Main Street. A male suspect armed with a knife confronted the victim inside the store and demanded money. Staff within the restaurant intervened by yelling, and the suspect fled. No money was taken, and nobody was injured. Police continued the investigation.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., police were contacted for an attempted carjacking outside the casino on McPhillips Street. A victim in his 40s was sitting in his vehicle when a male suspect unexpectedly opened the driver-side door and pointed a knife at the victim. The victim slammed the door closed, and the suspect fled.
General Patrol officers from the North District located the suspect on a transit bus outside the casino. He was taken into custody, and nobody was injured.
The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and determined the same suspect was involved in both incidents.
28-year-old Jacob GEORGE of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences and detained in custody:

- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
