On January 27, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 800 block of Main Street for the report of a male who had been stabbed.

Attending North District General Patrol officers located a 35-year-old male victim suffering from upper-body injuries sustained from a stabbing. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

During the investigation, it was learned that a male suspect had approached the victim and robbed him of personal property while brandishing a knife and a firearm. During the robbery, the suspect stabbed the victim in the upper body and fled on foot, dropping the firearm in the process.

A male was observed picking up the dropped firearm and enter a taxi with other individuals. Officers tracked the taxi to the 600 block of Magnus Avenue and apprehended four suspects without incident. Officers also recovered a Glock 19 handgun and a magazine containing a .22 calibre round, which they seized as evidence.

Lawrence Leon BEAULIEU, 26, of Winnipeg, is charged with multiple firearms-related offences and was detained in custody. A 17-year-old male, a 41-year-old male, and a 47-year-old female arrested by officers were subsequently released without charges.

The Major Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation into the robbery incident. No arrest has been made.
