On September 3, 2023, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of numerous shots fired into a residence in the Meadows West neighbourhood.

Police quickly determined that nobody was inside the residence at the time of the shooting, and there were no auxiliary injuries.

General Patrol members, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, subsequently arrested an adult male and female at a residence in the 6000 block of Roblin Boulevard.

The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation. They determined the accused male and female were previously at an outdoor gathering. While possessing a shotgun, the accused got into an altercation with another known male. During this incident, the accused threatened to kill the male, shot a round off in the air, and then drove away with the female co-accused.

From there, the two drove by the Meadows West residence, where the male accused shot at a residence he believed was linked to the male from the earlier altercation.

36-year-old Christopher Jordan EATON of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences:

- Discharge a Firearm with Intent

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs

- Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm

- HTA Drive without licence or with invalid licence

He was detained in custody.

A 30-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing firearm-related charges and has been released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
