The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) is pleased to announce the re-launch of the Neighbourhood Watch Program (NWP), designed to reduce crime by fostering partnerships between law enforcement and the community.

The Manitoba government is providing $46,000 through the Criminal Property Forfeiture Fund to the Winnipeg Police Service's Community Relations Division to rebrand and revitalize the Neighbourhood Watch Program. This funding will allow the police to provide tools to increase community awareness, best crime reporting practices, and offer crime deterrent strategies.
Tonight, Councillor Devi Sharma will host a community presentation at Maples Collegiate, Judy Silver Commons, 1330 Jefferson Avenue (6:30 p.m. doors open, 7:00 p.m. presentation).
Members of the Winnipeg Police Service’s Community Support Division will discuss the benefits of the program and what you can do to become involved.
In the upcoming weeks, the WPS will also meet with current Neighbourhood Watch block captains to share support strategies and to highlight how it begins with these captains.
The Neighbourhood Watch Program is free and open to all residents of Winnipeg. More information is available on the WPS Crime Prevention webpage.
