The Winnipeg Police Service’s Traffic Division is investigating after three pedestrians were struck during a two vehicle collision at the corner of Pembina Highway and Plaza Drive. Five people were sent to hospital.
On September 28, just after 4:30 p.m., a Ford Fusion was travelling northbound on Pembina Highway through the Plaza Drive intersection with a green light when it was struck by a westbound Honda Fit that failed to stop for a red light at Plaza Drive. The Honda Fit mounted the sidewalk – striking three young children who were with an adult.
The three children were transported to hospital in stable condition with minor injuries.
The driver of the Honda (a woman in her 70s, and the passenger, a man in his 80s), were transported to hospital in unstable condition. They were both upgraded to stable condition. The driver was issued a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act.
The investigation is continuing.

On September 28, traffic was blocked between 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m following a motor vehicle collision at Portage Avenue and Main Street.
Officers from the Traffic Division responded and learned that a man in his 70s was transported to hospital in critical condition after his vehicle mounted a curb and struck a pole. The driver was pronounced deceased in hospital and the collision was deemed not criminal in nature.

On September 28, at 5:00 p.m., officers from West District responded to a two vehicle collision in the 800 block of Sterling Lyon Parkway. A vehicle travelling eastbound on Sterling Lyon Parkway struck a westbound vehicle as it turned in front of it. The westbound vehicle then collided with a light standard, crushing its roof.
Two people were initially transported to hospital in critical condition, and then upgraded to stable condition.
Traffic lights at this intersection were affected for several hours.
