The Winnipeg Police Service have arrested 19-year-old Dorian BEARDY in connection with a serious collision involving a stolen vehicle and impaired driving at the intersection of Leila Avenue and McGregor Street.

On September 20, 2026, shortly after 7:00 a.m., North District General Patrol officers in the area, observed a 2022 Honda CR-V travelling northbound on McGregor Street at a high rate of speed. The vehicle proceeded through a red traffic signal and collided with a 2023 Kia Seltos.

The impact caused the CR-V to become airborne before striking a traffic light standard, rolling over, and colliding with a tree, resulting in catastrophic damage to both vehicles.

Officers provided emergency medical care to those involved before ambulance arrived.

Four occupants were travelling in the CR-V at the time of the collision. A 20-year-old woman and a 22-year-old woman were transported to hospital in critical condition. The 20-year-old succumbed to her injuries while the 22-year-old woman remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 20-year-old man was transported to hospital in stable condition.

The lone occupant of the Seltos, a 43-year-old man, was transported to hospital in stable condition and treated for minor injuries.

BEARDY was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to hospital in stable condition where he received treatment for minor injuries.

Speed and impairment are determined to be major contributing in the major collision. 

BEARDY has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order

BEARDY was also arrested on the strength of three outstanding warrants for Aggravated Assault as well as for failing to comply with Undertaking and Release Order conditions. He was detained in custody.

The Traffic Division continues to investigate. Additional charges against BEARDY are anticipated pending consultation and authorization from the Provincial Crown.
