The Winnipeg Police Service’s Property Crime Unit has charged 42-year-old Ricardo Fabian KNIGHT in connection with a series of retail thefts across Winnipeg.

Investigators linked KNIGHT to retail thefts reported between July 13 and August 25, 2026:

  • July 13: a man entered a retail store in the 1100 block of Portage Avenue, selected sunglasses valued at $1,194 and exited the store without paying
  • July 28: a man entered a retail store in the 3600 block of Portage Avenue, selected assorted clothing products valued at $560, and exited the store without paying
  • August 2: a man entered a retail store in the 1500 block of Kenaston Boulevard, selected assorted clothing products valued at $980, and exited the store without paying
  • August 4: a man entered a retail store in the 1500 block of Kenaston Boulevard, selected assorted clothing products and a pair of shoes valued at $750 and exited the store without paying
  • August 9: a man entered a retail store in the 600 block of Empress Street, selected assorted clothing products valued at $1,300 and exited the store without paying
  • August 13: a man entered a retail store in the 1500 block of Kenaston Boulevard, selected assorted clothing products valued at $915 and exited the store without paying
  • August 25: a man entered a retail store in the 2100 block of Pembina Highway, selected perfume products and reusable bags valued at $264 and exited the store without paying

On August 26, at 6:40 p.m., a suspect selected $795 in clothing from a store in the 1100 block of Grant Avenue and paid only for a pair of socks before attempting to leave with the remaining merchandise. Store security detained the suspect and police were contacted.

Attending West District General Patrol officers arrested the suspect without incident and turned him over to Property Crime Unit investigators.

All incidents were captured on the retailer’s security cameras and reported to police. The total loss incurred by the retailer is estimated at $6,800. Through the investigation, investigators linked KNIGHT as a suspect in all the above-mentioned incidents.

KNIGHT is charged with multiple counts of Theft Under $5,000 and was detained in custody pending further court proceedings.
