In June of 2026, the Winnipeg Police Service issued a news release regarding the arrest of a prolific offender by the Major Crimes Unit. The accused, 44-year-old Brian Kevin BLANCO, is currently in custody at the Headingley Correctional Centre in relation to those charges.
Subsequent investigation by the Major Crimes Unit linked BLANCO to several additional incidents:
- May 11-May 15, 2026: A male suspect attended a retail store in the 800 block of Leila Avenue on five separate occasions and fraudulently obtained merchandise valued at $2,400 using a former employer’s company account.
- May 23, 2026: A male suspect attended a gas station in the 1-99 block of Goulet Street and left without paying for approximately $100 worth of fuel.
- May 31, 2026: A male suspect attended a gas bar in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue, threatened an attendant, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.
All incidents were captured by security cameras and reported to police. Through their investigation, Major Crimes investigators identified BLANCO as the suspect and warrants for his arrest were issued.
On July 28, 2026, investigators attended the Headingley Correctional Centre and arrested BLANCO on the strength of two outstanding warrants.

BLANCO has been charged with:
- Warrant: Robbery, Fraud Under $5,000, Theft Under $5,000
- Warrant: Theft Under $5,000 (three counts)
BLANCO remains in custody.
