On July 24, 2026, around 8:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a two vehicle collision in the 3000 block of Pembina Highway (St. Norbert). The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) was already on scene. Additional information indicated the occupants (2 males) from one of the vehicles were removing bags from the vehicle and hiding them by a nearby hotel.
A woman and a toddler-aged-child from the other vehicle was transported to hospital in stable condition.
Officers from West District searched by the hotel and located a bag containing a .22 caliber semi automatic rifle, a loaded magazine and one of the male suspects. He was taken into custody and was in possession of two CO2 powered pistols, crack cocaine and drug packaging materials.
The 17-year-old male is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Weapon x 2
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Careless Storage of Firearm, Ammunition, Prohibited Weapon or Device
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
He was detained in custody.
With the assistance of WFPS, WPS K9, and AIR1, a second man was located stumbling through a field and taken into custody. He was arrested for driving impaired and firearm-related offences.
He was transported to hospital in stable condition.
A search of the suspect vehicle turned up additional methamphetamine and cocaine.
The investigation is continuing, approximately 135 grams of drugs were seized.
The 33-year-old man is facing the following charges:
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Careless Storage of Firearm, Ammunition, Prohibited Weapon or Device
- Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident Knowing That or Reckless as to Whether They Were Involved in an Accident CBH
- Operation of a Conveyance CBH While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or a Combination of Both
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Warrant (RCMP): Assault, Utter Threats
He was detained in custody.
