On July 21, 2026, members of the Winnipeg Police Service’s Domestic Violence Unit arrested 59-year-old Christopher Bruder GOETHALS after being notified of a breach of a provision of his Protection Order.
On July 15, GOETHALS, the accused, was working as a member of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS). GOETHALS was required not to attend within a particular distance of a protected person.
On this date, while working modified duties in full WFPS uniform and operating a fleet vehicle, GOETHAL drove in an area that was in violation of his Protection Order. The Winnipeg Police Service were notified, and the Domestic Violence Unit assumed the investigation.
On July 21, investigators arrested GOETHALS without incident.
GOETHALS was charged with Disobeying an Order of the Court.
He has been detained in custody.
