On July 11, 2026, as a result of a search warrant executed at a residence in the 600 block of Elgin Avenue, members of the Winnipeg Police Service arrested two men and a woman seizing illicit drugs, weapons, a firearm, and cash in the process.
In June of 2026, members of the Central Division’s Community Support Unit began an investigation regarding drug trafficking in Winnipeg’s Central Downtown area. During the investigation, the above-mentioned address and a 30-year-old male suspect were identified. Officers obtained a search warrant for the involved residence.
On July 11, with assistance from the East District Community Support Unit, Central District General Patrol, and the Tactical Support Team, Central Community Support Unit members executed a search warrant at the residence. The 30-year-old male suspect, along with a 69-year-old-male and a 26-year-old female were found in the residence and placed under arrest.
As a result of the search warrant, officers seized the following property:
- Beretta .40 calibre handgun with obliterated serial number
- Various ammunition
- Machete
- Bear spray canister
- 40 individually packaged bags of crack cocaine totaling 12.6 g (Estimated Street Value: $800)
- 2.8 g of powder cocaine (Estimated Street Value: $300)
- $565 CDN currency
Dillon Riley BARKER (30) and Savannah Taylor SANDERSON (26) are charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been tampered with
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon contrary to Regulations
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
- Possession of a Weapon x 2
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Both were detained in custody.
The 69-year-old male faces similar, firearm, weapon, and drug trafficking-related charges and was released on an Undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
