Two women are in custody after two women were injured during a serious assault involving a weapon at a residence in the West End on July 1, 2026. Both victims were transported to hospital in critical condition and have since been upgraded to critical but stable condition.

On July 1, 2026, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Sherburn Street after receiving a report of two injured women inside. West and East District General Patrol officers attended and located a 25-year-old woman and 32-year-old woman suffering from serious injuries consistent with being assaulted with a weapon. Officers provided first aid until members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service arrived.

Officers learned that the two victims were at the residence with a 26-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman, both of whom were known to them. At one point, an argument occurred and escalated to the point where the victims were assaulted with a baseball bat. Following the assault, one of the suspects photographed the injured victims and sent the images to other individuals. Police were subsequently contacted.

One of the victims was able to provide officers with information regarding the identities of the two suspects.

Between 5:42 p.m. and 6:12 p.m., both suspects were located and taken into custody. Officers also seized a baseball bat from the residence.
