On June 22, 2026, between approximately 12:30 p.m. and 12:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a series of robberies involving an armed suspect. Police located the suspect a short time later and took him into custody.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., an adult male attended a grocery store in the 200 block of Salter Street and made known his intent to rob the business. The suspect assaulted one employee with a baton and attempted to assault another with an edged weapon. The employees and two security guards sought refuge in a room, at which time the suspect barricaded the front door to prevent them from leaving. The suspect eventually fled the store, and police were contacted. No serious injuries were reported.

Shortly after, the suspect approached two men working in the area of Magnus Avenue and Salter Street and attempted to rob them. They were able to escape without injury and contacted police.

The suspect then approached a 19-year-old man near the intersection of Magnus Avenue and Salter Street, assaulted him, and attempted to rob him. The victim was able to escape without injury and contacted police.

North District General Patrol officers attended the area and located the suspect on Salter Street near Magnus Avenue. Upon seeing police, he fled on foot but was taken into custody a short time later. Officers seized two weapons during the arrest.
