Between May 12 and May 13, 2026, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to four separate shooting incidents in the downtown area. Two youths were arrested and detained in custody.

May 12, 2026:

  • At approximately 4:00 a.m., 9mm rounds were fired towards a residence in the 200 block of Beverly Street from the rear lane. One of the rounds entered a residence and lodged into the kitchen wall. No injuries were reported.

  • At approximately 4:26 a.m., 9mm rounds were fired into the air in the rear lane of 500 block of Agnes Street. No injuries were reported.

  • At approximately 8:45 a.m., 9mm rounds were fired into the air in the rear lane in the 300 block of Toronto Street. No injuries were reported; however, while searching for the armed suspects, responding officers encountered a youth carrying a water gun who was participating in the “Senior Assassin” game, a situation that presented obvious safety concerns.

Central and North District General Patrol officers, with the assistance of the Drone Unit, Tactical Support Team, K9, and Air1 flooded the area. Officers located 9mm casings from all three shooting locations, as well as the round embedded in the kitchen wall in the residence on Beverly Street.

The investigation was turned over to the Major Crimes Unit. Investigators compiled descriptions of potential suspects and believe all three incidents were related.

May 13, 2026:

  • At approximately 1:24 a.m., several rounds were fired into the air in the 400 block of Toronto Street. No injuries were reported.

Attending Central District General Patrol officers searched the area and observed two youth suspects nearby wearing face masks and took them into custody. During the arrest, a Taurus G3 9mm handgun, a Mec-Gar 9mm 15 round magazine, crack cocaine, and $3,800 CDN Canadian were seized.
