On April 20, 2026, around 5:30 a.m., West District General Patrol officers responded to a hospital in the 300 block of Booth Drive for the report of a potential explosive device located by security.
Upon arrival, police learned from security that an intoxicated person had entered the hospital. During an interaction with security, a smoke-screen training grenade was discovered in his possession and police were called.
The device was safely removed from the officers and turned over to the Bomb Unit, where it was deemed non-explosive but active.
The origin of the device is unknown and is still under investigation.
Kevin George DANIELS (45), has been charged with:
- Possession of Firearm
- Restricted/Prohibited Weapon
- Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
He was detained in custody.
