In January of 2026, the Winnipeg Police Service Counter Exploitation Unit arrested a 22-year-old man regarding an online luring investigation involving a teen.
In early June 2025, a 22-year-old man became involved in an inappropriate communication with a teenager he met online through social media. The online contact progressed to an in-person meeting, where the teen ended up at the suspects residence for several days. During this time, the teen was provided with drugs and alcohol and sexually assaulted.
The incidents were reported to police and the Counter Exploitation Unit entered into an investigation.
On January 30, investigators arrested Ahmed Amr ABDELGALIL (23) and charged him with Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, and Luring a Person Under 16 years of age by Means of Telecommunication.
ABDELGALIL was detained in custody.
