The 2025 Holiday Season Checkstop Program is officially underway and will continue throughout December and into New Year’s Eve. Winnipeggers can expect to see an increased police presence as officers work to enforce impaired driving laws and keep the community safe.
Report Impaired Driving
By staying vigilant and reporting suspected impaired drivers to police, you can actively contribute to safer roads. Together, we can help reduce collisions, prevent injuries, and save lives.
Signs of impaired driving:
- Swerving or drifting between lanes
- Erratic braking or accelerating
- Driving unusually slow or fast
- Ignoring traffic signals or stop signs
- Delayed reaction to road conditions
- Struggling to maintain control of the vehicle
What To Do If You Observe a Potential Impaired Driver
- Call 911
- Note location and direction of travel for the vehicle
- Vehicle description
- License plate of vehicle
- Colour of vehicle
- Make and model of vehicle
- Description of driver
If you suspect someone is driving impaired, report it. Call the Winnipeg Police Service or RCMP immediately.
