On January 14, 2026, Winnipeg Police Service arrested eight suspects in regards to a drug trafficking and firearms investigation involving a King Edward neighbourhood residence.
In December, 2025, officers of the West District Community Support Unit began an investigation regarding drug trafficking involving a residence in the 300 block of Rutland Street. Officers also learned that firearms could also be present at the residence.
On January 14, with assistance from West District General Patrol, the Tactical Support Team, and K9 and Drone Units, officers of the West District Community Support Unit executed a search warrant at the Rutland Street residence and seized the following property:
- A loaded .22 calibre rifle with 10 rounds of ammunition
- A loaded Smith & Wesson .40 calibre handgun with 14 rounds of ammunition
- A loose .40 calibre round of ammunition
- Two sets of Bow and Arrows
- 4 Grams of Cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $320)
- 13 Grams of Crack Cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $1,040)
- 11 Percocet prescription pills
- 11 Cellular Phones
- Scales and Packaging Materials
- Approximately $10,000 CDN. Currency
The following individuals were arrested at the residence and various parts of the city as a result of the investigation:
A 14-year-old male and an 18-year-old male, and a 22-year-old male, all of Winnipeg, face fourteen charges related to firearms, weapons, drug trafficking, and proceeds of crime offences. A 27-year-old female faces drug trafficking and proceeds of crime charges. Three were released on Undertakings to appear in court at later dates and the 22-year-old was detained in custody.
A 17-year-old male from Winnipeg faces twenty charges related to firearms, weapons, identity fraud, and multiple undertaking and release order breaches. He was detained in custody.
A 25-year-old male, a 23-year-old male, and an 18-year-old male, all of Calgary, AB, face numerous charges related to firearms, weapons, drug trafficking, and proceeds of crime offences and were detained in custody.
