The Major Crimes Unit re-arrested 35-year-old Jesse WHEATLAND following the continued investigation into arsons throughout the City of Winnipeg. He has been charged in connection with three additional incidents that occurred between August and November, 2025, as follows:
- August 19: a suspicious fire was reported in the 100 block of Disraeli Freeway
- November 2: a suspicious fire was reported in the 900 block of Corydon Avenue
- November 3: a suspicious fire was reported in the 1000 Nairn Avenue
Investigators also executed search warrants at a residence in the 200 block of St. Mary’s Road and a storage unit in the 300 block of Higgins Avenue, where evidence related to the investigation was seized.
On December 9, at 11:28 a.m., investigators attended to Milner Ridge Correctional Centre and arrested WHEATLAND. He has been charged with Arson x 3, Possess Incendiary Material x 2, and Intimidation x 2.
WHEATLAND was returned to custody.

On November 18, 2025, just after 7:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit arrested a man in the 100 block of Magnus Avenue after a lengthy investigation.
Between June 11, and November 18, 2025, a total of 22 arsons, break and enter, and damage-related offences occurred to the following addresses:
- 1763 Main Street (Nahanni Fontaine’s constituency office)
- 804 Selkirk Avenue (Bernadette Smith’s constituency office)
- 456 Main Street (Commonwealth Kitchen and Bar)
- 100-177 McDermont Avenue (Johnny G’s)
- 111 Princess Street (Exchange Event Centre)
- 436 Main Street (Palomino Club)
- 191 Main Street (Boujee Restaurant)
- 1577 Wall Street (Winnipeg School Division administration building)
- 155 Smith Street (La Roca)
- 285 Portage Avenue (Tipsy Cow)
- 146 Magnus Avenue (A Provincial Treatment Centre)
Jesse Robert Shawn WHEATLAND, (35), has been charged with the following:
- Arson with Disregard for Human Life
- Arson Causing Damage to Property x 13
- Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment x 4
- Break Enter and Commit Arson – Place x 2
- Break and Enter with Intent – Place x 2
He was detained in custody.
