A 30-year-old woman is in custody after a theft escalated to a robbery when she produced a hatchet and threatened store security at a retail business in the 1100 block of Henderson Highway.
On November 2, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the woman was leaving the store without paying for merchandise, and was stopped by store security. While security was in the process of recovering merchandise, she pulled out a hatchet and threatened them before leaving the store. No injuries were reported.
At 12:02 p.m., responding East District General Patrol officers located her in the 900 block of Henderson Highway where she was taken into custody. A hatchet was recovered during her arrest.
Kayla Marie EDNIE (30) has been charged with Robbery and Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking. Officers also learned EDINE was wanted on three arrest warrants for Break Enter & Commit Robbery, Fail to Comply with Undertaking x 4, and Fail to Attend Court. She was detained in custody.
