On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the Winnipeg Police Service is partnering with KidSport Manitoba for a community barbecue fundraiser at Police Headquarters, 245 Smith St. Don’t miss lunch ($10 gets you a barbecued smokie dog, bag of chips, and a drink!), games, and the chance to win prizes — including a framed, autographed puck from NHL MVP and Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck (#37).
But this event is about more than lunch and giveaways. It’s about opportunity.
KidSport believes no child should be left on the sidelines. Their mission is to remove financial barriers so all kids can experience the benefits of organized sport: teamwork, discipline, confidence, and connection. These are the same values that help young people thrive and build stronger, safer communities.

The Winnipeg Police Service is proud to support KidSport because we see firsthand how sport can change lives. For many young people, joining a team means more than learning the rules – it’s about building self-esteem, developing life skills, and finding positive role models. These are the same qualities that help youth thrive and succeed.
Proactive community policing is about more than enforcement. It’s about building trust, supporting families, and investing in long-term solutions. When kids have access to sport, they’re more likely to stay engaged in school, form healthy relationships, and avoid risky behaviours. It’s a proactive approach to crime prevention rooted in inclusion and opportunity.
Join us October 15, 2025, to support a cause that helps kids play, grow, and succeed – on and off the field.
