In the early hours of September 28, 2025, Central District General Patrol officers observed a red Dodge Ram 1500 driving dangerously during a public event in the Exchange District, where there was heavy pedestrian traffic. The driver went the wrong way against traffic on King Street, drove at a high rate of speed, and later rammed a police SUV.

At 1:09 a.m., officers first observed the suspect vehicle doing burnouts at the intersection of William Avenue and King Street. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver continued to drive recklessly before fleeing towards Main Street. A second traffic stop was attempted, but the driver ignored officers’ directions to exit the vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed southbound on Main Street.

Due to the dangerous manner of driving, Air1 took over and located the suspect vehicle driving east on Traverse Avenue near Kitson Street. Air1 relayed the vehicle’s position to ground units and coordinated the successful deployment of a tire deflation device, which punctured several tires. The vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of Dakota Street and St. Mary’s Road, where officers boxed it in. Despite having several flat tires, the driver attempted to flee, ramming a police SUV. No injuries were reported.

The driver exited the immobilized vehicle and was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. During his arrest, he was uncooperative and remained uncooperative while in custody. Alcohol is believed to have played a factor in this incident.

A 24-year-old man is facing the following charges:

  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
  • Fail or Refuse to Comply with Demand
  • Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or a Combination of Both
  • Dangerous Oper of a Conveyance

He was released on an Appearance Notice.
