Between August 27 and September 17, 2025, commercial air conditioning units at several businesses were targeted during copper thefts, resulting in approximately $90,000 in damages and leaving business owners responsible for the repair costs. The total value of the stolen copper is estimated to be less than $5,000.
- August 27: A church in the 1000 block of Main Street resulting in approximately $12,000 to $14,000 damage
- September 8: A synagogue in the 1000 block of Main Street resulting in $10,000 damage
- September 10: A commercial building in the 1400 block of Main Street resulting in $10,000 damage
- September 10: A commercial building in the 1500 block of Main Street resulting in $5,235 damage
- September 11: Copper was stolen from the air conditioning unit that was previously dismantled on August 27
- September 17: A commercial building in the 200 block of McGregor Street resulting in $50,000 damage
As a result of the incidents mentioned above, the Property Crime Unit began an investigation.
On September 25, at 12:55 p.m., investigators arrested Carl BEAULIEU (34) for Mischief Over $5000 x 5 and Theft Under $5000 x 6. He was detained in custody.
These thefts not only result in significant financial losses for businesses and property managers, but also disrupt operations and pose safety risks to staff and the public.
