In April of 2025, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Organized Crime Unit began an investigation regarding the distribution of illicit drugs within the City of Winnipeg.
During the investigation, investigators seized a total of $2.2 million of illicit drugs, including 43 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1,968 grams of cocaine, $150,000 in Canadian currency, scales, a vacuum sealer, packaging material and other drug related paraphernalia.
During the investigation, investigators identified a man as well as three addresses of interest. The investigation also revealed that the man attempted to ship a kilogram of cocaine through the mail, which was subsequently intercepted and seized.
On May 15, 2025, the man was arrested while leaving a residence in the 100 block of La Verendrye Street.
Later on that day, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and the East District Community Support Unit, search warrants were executed on private residences in the 100 block of La Verendrye Street, the 100 block of Noble Avenue and the 200 block of Mapleglen Drive.
George David MACFARLANE (49) has been charged with Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine, Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.
He was released on an Undertaking.
