Investigators from the Major Crimes Unit are investigating the stabbing of an 18-year-old man in the 800 block of Selkirk Avenue. They are seeking the public’s assistance as no arrests have been made.

On July 13, 2025, around 4:30 a.m., police responded to Selkirk and Parr, where the victim was lying outside a convenience store. He was bleeding profusely and suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital by ambulance in critical condition.

The victim has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Officers immediately contained the area and spoke with people at the scene. The initial investigation revealed that the victim was with a teenage female when they approached a man riding a bicycle to ask if he could lend them money for the store. Without warning, the victim was attacked and the suspect rode off on his bike.

A vehicle stopped to help and called 911. Another citizen, who was from out-of-town, also stopped and provided emergency medical care until paramedics arrived.

  • The suspect is described as a man on a BMX-style bicycle. He had a black backpack and was wearing a ballcap that may have had a white NY Yankees logo on the front. He was last seen riding down Selkirk towards Main Street.

The Major Crimes Unit asks anyone with information, including video surveillance to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS or winnipegcrimestoppers.org
