On July 6, 2025 at 4:20 a.m., North District patrol officers arrested a suspect in relation to a random assault that occurred at The Forks on June 6, 2025.
Officers attended to an apartment block in the 600 block of Jefferson Avenue where they believed the suspect was located. In an attempt to avoid arrest, the suspect jumped from a third-floor window but was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. He continued to resist arrest, and a taser was deployed to gain control and take him into custody.
The suspect was also wanted in connection to a second robbery and a residential break and enter that occurred in the early morning hours of June 7, 2025, and was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large.
Daniel Christopher DUMAS (33) has been charged with two counts of robbery, break and enter, theft under, resisting arrest, and being unlawfully at large. He was detained in custody.

Man injured in random assault at The Forks: C25-125480
On June 6, 2025 at around 11:15 p.m., a man who was at The Forks Market was randomly assaulted by another man.
Central District officers spoke with the 30-year-old victim who required medical attention. He was transported to hospital by ambulance in stable condition. According to witnesses, the victim was assaulted and knocked to the ground, where the attack continued after he lost consciousness. The suspect stole an item belonging to the victim before walking away.
In addition, police believe the suspect threw the item stolen from the victim at a woman walking a dog near the Riverwalk. The suspect was last seen in the area of Bonnycastle Park near Assiniboine Avenue and Garry Street. Investigators are asking that woman to come forward, as she may have information that could assist the investigation.
The suspect is described as Indigenous, 25-35 years with a medium to heavy build. At the time of the assault he was wearing a black t-shirt, black pants, a New York Yankees black baseball cap, and black shoes.
