Major Crimes requests public assistance finding suspect wanted in regard to a serious random assault at The Forks: C25-125480
Update:
The Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the random assault of a 30-year-old man at the Forks on June 6 and have now identified the suspect as 33-year-old Daniel Christopher Dumas. In addition, investigators have linked DUMAS to two other incidents, one of which was another random attack.
On June 7, 2025 at 12:05 a.m., DUMAS attended a beer vendor in the 600 block of Westminster Avenue, assaulted a 37-year-old woman as she stood in line, and fled with her purse.
At 1:39 on the same morning, DUMAS broke into a residential garage in River Heights and rummaged through the vehicle inside. He attempted to break into the main residence, however, he was unsuccessful.
DUMAS is currently unlawfully-at-large and a warrant for his arrest has been issued in relation to the incidents mentioned above.

The Major Crimes Unit is asking the public for assistance regarding DUMAS’ whereabouts. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS or winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
The Winnipeg Police Service reminds the public not to approach DUMAS if encountered, as he is considered armed and dangerous.
As previously released:
On June 6, 2025 at around 11:15 p.m., a man who was at The Forks Market was randomly assaulted by another man.
Central District officers spoke with the 30-year-old victim who required medical attention. He was transported to hospital by ambulance in stable condition. According to witnesses, the victim was assaulted and knocked to the ground, where the attack continued after he lost consciousness. The suspect stole an item belonging to the victim before walking away.
In addition, police believe the suspect threw the item stolen from the victim at a woman walking a dog near the Riverwalk. The suspect was last seen in the area of Bonnycastle Park near Assiniboine Avenue and Garry Street. Investigators are asking that woman to come forward, as she may have information that could assist the investigation.
The suspect is described as Indigenous, 25-35 years with a medium to heavy build. At the time of the assault he was wearing a black t-shirt, black pants, a New York Yankees black baseball cap, and black shoes (see attached photo).
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and are asking anyone who was at The Forks and believe they may have witnessed the assault to come forward.
