General Patrol members with the assistance of AIR1, TST and the Drone Unit were busy responding to a number of unrelated violent incidents that occurred throughout the city overnight. Three people were taken to hospital and five people were arrested. The Major Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate and identify any additional suspects.
- At 5:45 p.m., (June 4th), officers from the East District responded for a man in his 20s who was robbed and stabbed by an unknown man near Dakota/Abinoji Mikanah. The suspect ran off and the victim was transported to hospital in stable condition. The Major Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate. Anyone with information please call the numbers below.
- At 7:00 p.m., (June 4th), a man in his 40s was cutting grass at his house in the 500 block of Henderson Highway when an unknown man armed with a machete demanded his sunglasses. The victim was assaulted with the machete and the suspect rode off on a bike. An off-duty officer who was nearby intervened, called for back-up and chased after the suspect. The suspect was eventually stopped and taken into custody by the East District officers and the Tactical Support Team.
- 28-year-old, Nelson Preston SUMNER was charged with robbery, possessing a weapon and a court order violation. He was detained in custody.
- At 7:20 p.m., (June 4th), General Patrol officers from the West District and AIR1 did a traffic stop on a vehicle at Cambridge/Yale as the result of a gun investigation. A loaded Glock handgun and crack cocaine were recovered and four people were arrested:
- 20-year-old, Markus Laverne JACK and 19-year-old, Tristyn Riley WASILINA were charged with firearms and drug-related offences. They were detained in custody.
- Two 19-year-old men and a 20-year-old man are facing similar charges, they were released on Undertakings.
- At 9:30 p.m., (June 4th), Central District officers with the assistance of TST, K9 and the Drone Unit responded for the report of a stabbing in the 300 block of McKelvey Street during a group confrontation. The group dispersed before police arrived, and the victim, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital in unstable condition and upgraded to stable. No arrests have been made and the Major Crimes Unit is continuing the investigation. Anyone with information can call the numbers below.
- At 3:00 a.m., (June 5th), Central District officers responded to a stabbing at Portage /Vaughan. The victim in his 40s was transported to hospital in stable condition.
