In May 2025, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Guns and Gangs Unit began an investigation regarding firearms and narcotics trafficking in the St. John’s neighbourhood.
Investigators determined that quantities of illicit narcotics were being trafficked within this neighbourhood. A location of interest and a number of suspects were identified and investigated by police.
The following items were seized by police during the course of the investigation:
- Loaded .45 calibre Norinco handgun with 5 rounds of ammunition in the magazine
- Assorted rounds of ammunition
- Approximately 93 grams of Cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $9,300)
- Drug trafficking materials/packaging
- 2 scales
- 3 cellular phones
On May 22, 2025, the Guns and Gangs Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST), executed a warrant on a residence in the 200 block of Church Avenue.
One adult male and two adult females were located within the residence and taken into custody without incident.
Preston Dakota MOORE, (23) of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 7
- Warrant – Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 3
- Warrant – Order of Committal
He was detained in custody.
A 27-year-old and 28-year-old female, both from Winnipeg, are facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
They were both released on Undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code.
