On May 13, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to an apartment complex in the 300 block of Kennedy Street to check the wellbeing of a tenant whose front door had been barricaded.
North District General Patrol officers arrived and located four individuals upon entering the suite, along with a backpack containing a loaded Ranger 410 sawed-off shotgun. Three males and one female were arrested without incident.
Moses James ANDERSON, (52), from Winnipeg has been charged with the following:
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
Howard Frederick WAVEY, (60), from Winnipeg has been charged with the following:
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
- Warrant – Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Sean Homer BENNETT, (52), from Winnipeg has been charged with the following:
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
All three were detained in custody.
A 43-year-old female, from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
