On May 4, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., while conducting proactive patrolling in the Centennial neighbourhood, North District General Patrol conducted a traffic stop on a 2010 Dodge Avenger in front of a commercial business in the 200 block of Isabel Street.
Upon speaking with the driver, officers observed an edged weapon that was in plain view in the back seat. Both male occupants were arrested by police without incident. A search of both male suspects and vehicle revealed approximately 47 grams of fentanyl (Estimated Street Value = $7,000). Investigators also learned that the vehicle had been stolen.
Curt Albert BLACKBIRD, (46), from Keesekoowenin First Nation is charged with the following:
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
He was detained in custody.
A 30-year-old male, from Winnipeg was released without charge.
