On April 14, at approximately 4:00 a.m., East District General Patrol officers were patrolling in the St. Vital neighbourhood when they observed two males running from a commercial business in the 1500 block of St. Mary’s Road. Upon seeing police, the suspects fled.
After a short foot pursuit, both males were arrested without incident in the rear of a residence in the sub 100 block of Robertson Crescent.
The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and identified a third male suspect.
At approximately 3:15 p.m., members of the Major Crimes Unit attended to a residence in the 1400 block of Mars Drive and arrested the third male suspect without incident.
Investigators have learned through investigation that the suspects had attended the above mentioned business. The suspects gained access to the business by smashing a front door window while a third suspect waited outside. Once inside, they proceeded to steal store merchandise valued at approximately $12,000 and caused approximately $8,500 worth of damage.
A 15-year-old and 19-year-old male, both from Winnipeg, are facing a charge of Break Enter and Theft – Place.
They were both released on Undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code.
A 16-year-old male, from Winnipeg, has been charged with one count of Break Enter and Theft – Place.
He was detained in custody.
