Update:

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit continued its investigation regarding the stabbing assault aboard a transit bus on April 2, 2025 in the area of Portage Avenue and Main Street.

Investigators identified two male suspects, one youth and one adult, involved in the incident.

On April 12, at approximately 11:10 a.m., with assistance from the Tactical Support Team, investigators executed a search warrant at a Toronto Street residence where they arrested one of the suspects without incident. Items believed to be related to the incident were also seized as evidence.

Investigators arrested a second suspect at police headquarters the same morning where he was being detained regarding an unrelated matter.

The victim and the suspects are previously unknown to one another.

Dallas DANIELS-LEPINE, 21, is charged with Robbery, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon, and Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order. A 16-year-old male youth faces similar charges.

Both were detained in custody.

As previously released:

On April 2, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Portage Avenue and Main Street for the report of stabbing that occurred on a transit bus.

Central District General Patrol officers arrived and located a 21-year-old male at the rear of the bus suffering from an injury to his upper body consistent with being stabbed. Officers provided emergency medical aid which included the application of a chest seal.

The male victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition, later upgraded to stable condition.

Investigators have learned through investigation that a number of yet to be identified suspects approached the victim on the bus and attempted to rob him. A physical altercation ensued resulting in the victim being stabbed. The suspects fled off the bus prior to police arrival.

The Major Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation.
