On March 5, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers of the Winnipeg Police Service responded the area of Smith Street and York Avenue for the report of a 2020 Hyundai Elantra that had been driving erratically.

Upon arrival, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested four occupants without incident. The investigation revealed that the vehicle was a rental and being used for drug trafficking.

A search of the vehicle revealed the following:

  • Glock 9mm handgun with magazine
  • Cannister of bear spray
  • Approximately 13 grams of Cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $1,300)
  • Approximately 12 grams of Methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value = $600)
  • Approximately 108 grams of Psilocybin (Estimated Street Value = $1,100)
  • Approximately 30 pills of Fentanyl (Estimated Street Value = $2,400)
  • Drug paraphernalia and packaging materials 
  • Unknown quantity of Canadian currency

Opeyemi OLORUNLEKE, 29, of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Psilocybin
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of a Weapon x 2
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon in Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 5

He was detained in custody.

David ONWUSOROM, 29, of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Psilocybin
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

He was detained in custody.

A 30-year-old male, from Winnipeg is facing charges including:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Psilocybin
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.

A 30-year-old male, from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon in Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Psilocybin
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

He was released on an Appearance Notice and Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
