On February 27, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Cavalier Drive and Hamilton Avenue for the report of an Assault.
West District General Patrol officers attended and located a male suspect outside in close proximity to the transit bus. He was subsequently arrested without incident.
A search of the suspect revealed a small utility knife concealed on his person.
Investigators have learned through investigation that the suspect had been a passenger on the transit bus that was travelling in the area of Cavalier Drive and Hamilton Avenue when he began to cause a disturbance. The suspect’s behaviour escalated to the point where he threatened and physically assaulted the transit operator.
The 35-year-old male victim sustained minor injuries to his upper body which did not require medical attention.
A 38-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Assault
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Possession of a Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 2
He was detained in custody.
