UPDATE:
In November 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Guns & Gangs Unit commenced an investigation regarding individuals believed to be involved in drug trafficking. On December 11, 2024, two search warrants were executed and several individuals were identified and taken into custody. A 41-year-old male suspect eluded arrest and a warrant for their arrest was issued.
On January 12, 2025 at approximately 8:12 a.m., 41-year-old Kevan ANDERSON of Winnipeg was arrested by North District General Patrol officers after a traffic stop in the Point Douglas area. ANDERSON initially provided officers with fraudulent identification and a fictitious name, but was positively identified and arrested for outstanding arrest warrants. During his arrest, ANDERSON was found to be in possession of:
- Sawed off .22 calibre rifle with ammunition
- 20 grams of fentanyl
- 6 grams of crack cocaine
- $225 Canadian Currency – believed to be proceeds of crime
- Fraudulent Identification
In addition to the 11 charges stemming from the Guns and Gangs Unit investigation in late 2024, ANDERSON was charged with 11 additional offences related to illegal firearms possession, drug trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime, possessing fraudulent identity document(s) and breaches of court orders.
He was detained in custody.
All individuals involved in this investigation have been arrested.
As previously released: In November 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Guns & Gangs Unit commenced an investigation regarding individuals believed to be involved in drug trafficking, and several suspects were identified.
On December 11, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., investigators observed two suspects in a 2004 Jeep Compass attend a storage locker in the 1200 block of Notre Dame Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated; however, the driver of the Jeep fled eastbound on Notre Dame Avenue. While evading police, the Jeep collided with several vehicles near the intersection of Sargent Avenue and Edmonton Street, including a school bus with its safety lights activated. No injuries were reported as a result of the collisions.
At approximately 8:40 a.m., the Jeep was located unoccupied in a parking lot in the 800 block of St. James Street. Investigators located and seized 13.3 grams of fentanyl from the vehicle.
At approximately 10:22 a.m., while leaving a residence in the 500 block of Spence Street, a 42-year-old male was located and taken into custody. The following was located and seized during his arrest:
- 327 grams of cocaine
- 190 grams of methamphetamine
- 103 grams of fentanyl
- Illegal cigarettes (Total 240 individual cigarettes)
- Contaminated functioning scale
At approximately 10:48 a.m., with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and the North District Community Support Unit, search warrants were executed at the storage locker on Notre Dame Avenue, as well as the 500 block of Spence Street. As a result of this investigation, the following items were seized.
- .22LR calibre rifle
- Two (2) detachable magazines for the above GSG-16 rifle, loaded with a single round of .22LR ammunition
- Fentanyl – 545 grams (estimated street value – $163,500)
- Methamphetamine – 327 grams (estimated street value – $32,700)
- Cocaine – 232 grams (estimated street value – $23,200)
- T3 pills
- Approximately 19,400 illegal cigarettes (estimated street value – $19,640)
- Drug packaging Materials and Paraphelania
- Two (2) previously reported stolen saxophone’s and two (2) stolen guitars valued at $6589 (C24-113180)
- $25,745 Canadian Currency
47-year-old Cory KOZMENSKI of Winnipeg has been charged with 25 offences related to drug trafficking, firearms, and court breaches.
He was detained in custody.
A 42-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 4 (Cocaine, Methamphetamine)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco
He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
A 26-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 4 (Cocaine, Methamphetamine)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco
He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
A 46-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 4 (Cocaine, Methamphetamine)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco
She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
A 32-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 4 (Cocaine, Methamphetamine)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Possession is Unauthorized
- Store a Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
