On January 2, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers from the West District responded to the report of an attempted robbery of an armoured vehicle. The truck was parked outside a bank in the 1500 block of Kenaston Boulevard.
Police met with two security guards, who reported that one of them had been waiting inside the truck while the other was walking back to the truck from the bank. As the driver returned to the vehicle, an unknown male wearing a face covering grabbed him from behind. Two other males, also wearing face-coverings, approached and demanded that the driver open the truck doors. When he was unable to do so immediately, the three suspects fled in a dark-colored vehicle.
Neither of the guards were physically injured and they contacted police.
Subsequently a black Volkswagon Jetta was located abandoned in the 1900 block of McCreary Road, and believed to be involved in the crime.
The Major Crimes Unit is continuing to establish suspect descriptions and canvas for witnesses.
The initial description is three tall males, wearing all black, with face-coverings.
