On November 10, 2024 at approximately 7:00 a.m., patrolling North District General Patrol officers observed a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab stopped at a red traffic light signal at Mountain Avenue and McPhillips Street.

As the traffic light turned green, the truck, occupied by four suspects, quickly accelerated as they noticed the police vehicle behind them. As officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle failed to stop and continued to be operated in an unsafe manner.

Officers successfully conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of McPhillips Street to address observed Highway Traffic Act infractions and upon speaking with the occupants, observed a folding knife and body armour in plain sight. All occupants were placed under arrest without incident and removed from the vehicle. Upon further inspection, the body armour was also found to contain a loaded 9mm handgun with a tampered serial number and seven rounds of ammunition.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • Approximately 163 Grams of Methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value = $8,100)
  • Approximately 3.6 Grams of Fentanyl (Estimated Street Value = $545)
  • Approximately 3 Grams of Cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $155)
  • Packaging Materials
  • Approximately $9,300 CDN Funds
