On November 2, 2024, at approximately 7:45 a.m., Central District General Patrol officers attended to a hotel in the 200 block of McDermot Avenue for the purpose of arresting a male who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.
Upon arrival, officers located the male suspect in a suite and took him into custody without incident. During the arrest, officers observed a handgun, drugs, and currency within the suite.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., with the assistance of the Central District Community Support Unit a search warrant was executed and the following items were seized from the suite:
- A loaded Ruger .22 calibre semi-automatic handgun with a magazine containing 10 rounds of ammunition
- Bullet proof vest
- Taser x 2
- Bear spray
- Collapsible baton
- Approximately 126 grams of fentanyl (Estimated Street Value = $19,000)
- Approximately 377 grams of cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $30,000)
- Approximately 373 grams of methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value = $18,700)
- Approximately 16 grams of psilocybin (Estimated Street Value = $240)
- Approximately 60 grams of cannabis (Estimated Street Value = $600)
- Approximately $5,000 of Canadian currency

- Cellular phones
The accused was turned over to the Guns & Gangs Unit.
Christopher Bruce STEWART (46), of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 2
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 4
- Possession of a Weapon x 2
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Psilocybin
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
He was detained in custody.
