On August 21, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., East District General Patrol officers were dispatched to a Residential Break and Enter incident at a residence in the first 100 block of Brentford Road.
Upon arrival, officers observed damage to several windows as well as an entry door. Officers spoke to a the 30-year-old and 35-year-old male victims who advised that they were both uninjured.
Through investigation, it was learned that two adult females had attended to the residence to meet with acquaintances when they became involved in a verbal dispute with the victims. This dispute escalated where a small edged weapon was brandished by the suspects who then chased the 30-year-old male victim outdoors while uttering threats to harm both victims. The two suspects returned to the residence and caused the observed damage in an attempt to gain entry, before fleeing the area. The damage to the residence is estimated at approximately $5,000.
The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation. With the assistance of the East District Community Support Unit, both suspects were identified.
The suspects and victims were not previously known to one another.
On October 2, 2024, the Major Crimes Unit arrested both suspects.
An 18-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Possession of a Weapon
- Break Enter and Commit – Dwelling House
A 19-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment
Both were released on Undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code.
