On October 21, 2024, at approximately 2:45 a.m., East District General Patrol officers responded to a report of a break and enter to a commercial business in the 1100 of Henderson Highway.

Upon arrival, officers located a youth suspect attempting to flee the area. A short foot chase ensued resulting in the arrest of the suspect.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and an additional youth suspect was identified. The investigation revealed that the suspects had attended to the business and proceeded to steal approximately $3,000 in merchandise as well as causing approximately $10,200 in damage (shattered front windows, shattered front entrance window, shattered glass display cabinet) .

It was also learned through further investigation that the suspects were responsible for another commercial break and enter to a business in the 1200 block of Rothesay Street earlier on in the night. Approximately $1,100 in merchandise was stolen and approximately $4,000 in damage was caused to the business (shattered front entrance window).

At approximately 7:00 a.m., officers attended to the 700 block of Edison Avenue and arrested the second youth suspect.

A 15-year-old from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

  • Break Enter and Theft – Place x 2
  • Mischief Over $5,000

A 16-year-old from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

  • Break Enter and Theft – Place x 2
  • Mischief Over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 2

Both were released on Undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code.
