On July 29, 2024, at approximately 6:46 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a male who had pointed a firearm at four individuals and threatened to kill them in the 100 block of McKenzie Street. The suspect fled and police were contacted.

Officers learned an altercation had occurred when a rock was thrown through a window by one of the victims and the suspect exited the residence with the firearm. It was determined the suspect and the four victims may have previously known each other.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation. With the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST) and General Patrol officers from the North District a search warrant was executed on the residence which resulted in the seizure of an improvised firearm and a shotgun shell.

At 5:50 p.m., the suspect was taken into custody at the same location without incident.
