On May 27, 2024, at approximately 1:36 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 3600 block of Portage Avenue for the report of a commercial robbery.

West District General Patrol officers, attended a banking institution and learned that an adult female suspect produced a knife and attempted to physically take money from a teller who was dispersing funds to a customer. The suspect was unsuccessful and fled on foot before the arrival of police.

At approximately 1:50 p.m., officers were directed to another retail store in the same block, where they located the suspect and arrested her without incident. A knife and a pair of runners, later determined to have been stolen, were located on her person and seized as evidence.

Through their investigation, officers learned that the suspect, after fleeing the bank and still brandishing the knife, attended a hair salon in the same block and attempted to steal a cash register. The suspect attempted to stab one of the intervening staff members and shoved her to the ground as she fled the business empty-handed. The 44-year-old female victim suffered a minor injury for which she did not require medical attention. The suspect then attended a nearby clothing retail store, where she stole a pair of runners valued at approximately $100 and fled to a fourth business where she was ultimately apprehended.

Alexis Abby HUNTER, 30, of Winnipeg, has been charged with two counts of Robbery and Theft Under $5,000.

She was detained in custody.
